Why attend counselling?
There is an endless list of reasons why people will seek therapy and all of them are valid. No matter the cause, sometimes people have a feeling that ‘something just isn't quite right’, or they need to talk to about something distressing from their past, or current circumstances. Talking to someone in a confidential space greatly increases well being, and future happiness.
What can counselling help with?
Generally, counselling can help you with:
Unhappy relationships or relationship problems
Your childhood, by talking through the past events and making sense of them with a new perspective.
Difficult emotions that may be interfering with your daily life
Trauma, in the form of mental, physical or emotional trauma. I have in-depth experience in counselling complex trauma.
Having negative thoughts about yourself or life in general
Negotiating a life transition
Changing your behaviour to support more of what you want, and less of what you don’t want.
Any situations or events you find difficult
Frequent irritability and unsure of the cause
Isolation and feeling helpless
How does online counselling work?
Online counselling is a great option if you cannot travel to see someone, have a full time job or simply feel more comfortable talking to someone from your own home. All you need is a good internet connection/ phone signal and a quiet space you won't be interrupted. I will call you at our allocated time, and have our session together. I will also detail a plan if either of us gets disconnected or have a bad connection. You will always have the same quality of sessions as face to face counselling in my office, provided you are comfortable and ensure you have appropriate space to call from. Online counselling can work out cheaper and more flexible as there is no need for transport or missed work ect.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions needed is unique to each client and will depend on your goals, how you use your time between sessions and how much support you have out-with therapy. Realistic goals can still be achieved if you are restricted by time or finances, just get in touch to discuss this further.
Is it confidential?
Your confidentiality is taken very seriously and will only be broken in extreme circumstances. This is discussed further in the client agreement which will be discussed during your first appointment.
